Virtual Bridge Designing Contest

  • Duration: 40 minutes
  • Criteria for evaluation: Design, creativity, correctness of the engineering

Virtual Bridge Designing Contest is a computer-based competition intended to promote math, science, and technology education among Sri Lankan school children. The contest provides students with a realistic introduction to engineering through an engaging, hands-on design experience by giving them an opportunity to design a bridgeusing a computer software.Students will experience the engineering design process in simplified form, and they will design a bridge in much the same way that practicing civil engineers design real highway bridges. The goal is to create an optimal bridge design. An optimal design is one that satisfies design specifications, passes a simulated load test, and costs as little as possible.

The bridge should be designed within the given time period. The open access software which will be provided to you should be used to create designs of bridges. (supporting websites: www.bridgedesigner.org).

This contest will be organized at regional level and designs will be evaluated by the software.
