Community Based Science Societies

The word ‘communities’ broadly defined where it includes the places people learn, work, reside, serve and connect. Community Science's strategy is harnessed to provide an integrated approach to building the capacity of community to develop the health, economic equity, and social justice. The capacity of community can be built by informal education, giving technical assistance, creating supporting network, improving information technology and transferring technologies for their cottage industries etc. 

The main objectives of creating Community Based Science Societies is to strengthen communities by engaging them more in scientific thinking and usage of scientific knowledge and technologies in their day to day life and to create income generating activities (e.g. farming, self-employment, cottage industries etc.), to create awareness among general public on issues of importance (e.g. on health issues,  environment issues etc.), to transfer technologies that can be used to establish cottage industries, self-employment etc. to elevate economic status of the village community and alleviate poverty and to increase scientific literacy of the general public and improve perception and attitude towards science and its applications.
